According to Yonhap News,
Gyeongbuk Province announced on June 25th that they had established a deliberation committee to devise plans for development of industrial complexes in the region and issued an approval for establishment three general industrial complex each in Guryongpo, Pohang; Gwangmyeong; and Myeonggae, Gyeongju.
Guryongpo General Industrial Complex is expected to be built on a 994,000-square-meter land in Byeongpo-ri and Hajeong-ri, Nam-gu, Pohang, by 2013 with an investment worth 137 billion won raised by Gwangnam. The complex will attract basic metal and metal processing companies.
Two companies, including S.C. Holdings, will invest 101.1 billion won into building Gwangmyeong Industrial Complex on a 710,000-square-meter land in Gwangmyeong-ri and Yongsan-ri, Ocheon-eup, Nam-gu, Pohang, to entice manufacturers of non-metal mineral products, metal processed products and machinery equipment.
Jinyan will spend 6.3 billion won by 2011 to construct Myeonggae Industrial Complex 2 on a 104,000-square-meter land in Myeonggae-ri, Naenam-myeon, Gyeongju City to attract producers of power generators, electric converters and communications equipment.
Kim Yong-ryun, head of the City Development Department of the Gyeongbuk provincial government, said “we will respond to the recent increase in demand for industrial sites by providing them to companies in need of those sites and establish environmentally-friendly industrial complexes.”
